Several airlines, including Air Mauritius, affected by aBaggage Sorting Breakdown at Paris - Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)
• Flight MK1017 returns to Mauritius with 250 pieces of luggage missing
An electrical incident occurred last night in the baggage sorting system at Paris - Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), forcing Aeroports de Paris (ADP) to suspend the connection between two sorting machines (TMF and TME). As a result, flight MK1017, which departed from Paris CDG this morning, is scheduled to arrive in Mauritius at 21:00 on Tuesday, 05 August 2025, with approximately 250 pieces of luggage missing as they could not be loaded mechanically on the flight.
The luggage of passengers on flight MK1017 was diverted to a common sorting exit along with the luggage from other flights. "The baggage was then set aside for all airlines and flights affected during this time slot," ADP services stated, while apologizing for the inconvenience. Approximately 250 pieces of luggage from the Air Mauritius flight remained in the sorting system at Terminal 2F.
An initial fix was implemented at 07h30 this morning, allowing operations to resume almost normally. A permanent fix was deployed at around 16h00 to replace the defective component. This corrective action was taken after the processing of the 16h20 flight to ensure that no further disruptions would affect Air Mauritius operations.
The missed baggage from this morning is now being progressively handled. More than 180 pieces have already been urgently loaded onto tonight’s flight MK015. This flight is expected to arrive in Mauritius at around 06h00 tomorrow morning, and with the cooperation of Customs services, Air Mauritius plans to deliver the luggage to individual passengers by around 09h00.
ADP remains hopeful that all remaining baggage will be processed by this evening, provided the aircraft’s capacity allows for full carriage. Other alternatives are being considered in case not all luggage can be transported on the same flight.
Air Mauritius apologizes to its passengers for the inconvenience caused by these unforeseen events.
