Kite surfing in Mauritius

Mauritius has a growing reputation as one of the best destinations for kite surfing in the world. With incredible beaches, a community of locals and travellers looking for adventure, and some great spots with incredible scenery, you can see why.

Le Morne on the South West coast is one of the best kite surfing spots according to Inside Out Mauritius where a ‘kite lagoon’ means safe surfing with sublime views. It’s also a great spot for beginners, although if you want to test yourself with waves then that’s just 600 metres way. As this article points out though: “The famous Manawa and One Eye wave are not for the faint-hearted.”

When to go? According to Inside Out Mauritius, “Le Morne is busy during winter with kite surfers from all over the world. You’ll have a great atmosphere and also time to rest: there is no kite surfing for one to two hours at low tide.”
